CMS Reporting

The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) requires nursing homes to report employee hours worked to enable analysis of staffing by health-care professionals. This is called Payroll Based Journal (PBJ) reporting.

For the PBJ report, CMS requires nursing homes to report work periods with time deducted for meals, whether an employee worked through the meal period, and whether the company pays employees, to ensure all data used for analysis has the same basis for comparison.

For example,

Hours Worked	Meal Time
8 hours	30 minutes
16 hours	60 minutes

On the CMS Reporting tab (Configuration > System Settings > CMS Settings), you see specific settings for how the CMS report is generated in the system. Do NOT change any of these settings . This tab is for Asure administrators..
